I'm just now finding this after much frustration with this same problem (I
think). My mobo is FOXCONN 865A01-PE-6EKRS (looks like similar version to
one below). Processor is 3.2GHz (Prescott, I assume). My symptoms are not
unlike those reported here except for a subtle note - I've installed SP2 and
been okay up to a point. When I install the latest updates that appear to be
3 or 4 security fixes (I'm afraid to go the the update page to look again
else I get something I don't want, but I can do this and add to post if
someone thinks this would be helpful), the systme won't load in any mode
(Safe, Last Known Good, etc) and always goes into a continuously rebooting
mode ad infinitum. Only a clean install will fix it. WinXP repair is no
good. Haven't called Microsoft Support as yet because I dread the wait and
don't expect they'll be too helpful. I note that the last post on this
topic was some 3 months ago. Is there any new news? Was the L1/L2 cache
off the only Rx to address this? I didn't read about anyone mentioning that
almost all of SP2 was okay except for the most recent several updates.
Before those go on everything is fine. Once they go on, (don't know which
one does it), it's hosed. I guess my fix will be simply to disable Windows
Update forever or until I read something here about a fix for the problem.
I also had trouble getting latest BIOS from Foxxconn. The one they have
posted for my mobo looks later than what Ihave installed (dated Sept '04) but
the Foxconn utilities won't load it - they say it's not the right BIOS for my
mobo, but it's what they've posted and I can find no other. Is a BIOS
upgrade to whatever they say the latest level worth pursuing?

I'd appreciate any update on the situation as it stands now and what those
of you who have posted sometime ago have done.

Thanks in advance,
