Can you be more specific? I don't use the messenger, and I am not familiar
with being able to "see", let alone adjust file indexing. Also, I have 2
computers, basically the same, and only one has this problem.

When I go to task manager the heavy memory usage seems to be "explorer.exe".
 What's up with that?
