Hi;

Are you downloading from the Windows Update site, or is the download being
triggered via AutoUpdate? For now I'm going to assume you are getting this
from the Windows Update site.

As Jim mentioned that error code really doesn't convey a lot, so not sure.
You may want to try this "generic" fix to see if it helps. Close all
instances of IE. Open the Start/Run line and enter each of these lines:

net stop wuauserv
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 iuengine.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll

Now open the Windows\SoftwareDistribtion folder and delete the DataStore and
Download folders. Next find a folder named WUTemp --- it is a Hidden folder
so you will have to enable that with the Explorer/Folder Options. It will
most likely be on the largest drive/partition available to WindowsXP.
Delete that entire folder.

Now back to the Start/Run line and type: net start wuauserv

After that completes go back to the Windows Update website and give SP2
another try. If all that fails you may want to just download the full
install to your local drive and install it manually. You can grab it from
here:
