What do you mean it "won't let you have it"?

Yes. You are probably right. Did you install any third-party programs
recently? Typically sloppy install programs are responsible for replacing
working versions with newer but incompatible versions of modules.
What version of the module do you have now?
BTW this is completely off-topic for Windows Update.
You may find better assistance in a newsgroup which specializes
in your OS.
