Please pardon the rather lengthy post.

My SP2 experience has been/is flawless. I've installed it, without issue, on
6 systems.....two Dells, (a Dimension 2350 with an aftermarket sound card
and a second HD, and an Inspiron 1100 laptop), and four custom desktops. One
desktop has an Intel D865PERL mobo and Intel p4 3.0 cpu, the other three
desktops have Asus mobo's, (a p4p800dlx, p4 2.4 cpu....2 p4s800's, p4 2.4 &
2.0 cpu's). The desktops have a mixture of ATI/nVidia video cards with
different amounts of memory, along with different brands and speeds of
system
memory from 512mb to 1gb.

Three of the desktops use onboard audio, the other two employ different
makes of sound cards. All of the desktops, (5), have two optical drives and
two HD's. Four of the desktops have a cd and dvd burner along with an
internal Iomega 250 ZIP drive which require an add-in controller card.

Security programs are a mixture of Norton's System Works '02&'03, NIS
'02&'03, AVG, PcCillin', AntiVir, SyGate, AdAware and SpyBot. Other added
programs include MS Works Suite '02, Word '02, 2 or 3 different photo
editing programs, Nero 6, Roxio 6 and assorted games. There are quite a few
other commonly used programs and utilities installed as well. SP2 was
installed via WU twice, and installed from the 266mb IT download, (burned to
cd), the remaining four times.

My obvious point is, with all the varying system configurations, varying
hardware, security and commonly used programs and different SP2 installed
methods, one would think that there would have been a glitch somewhere among
these six installations of SP2, if SP2 was a buggy update. Am I just really
lucky? I don't think so.....I haven't won the lottery yet.

I did nothing in the way of preparation for SP2 other than make sure I had
the latest hardware drivers and perform my weekly routine of system
maintenance, (defrag, virus scan, spy/malware scan).

I am not a MS employee, nor am I a computer expert. I'm just an intermediate
user of 8yrs. or so who
has learned a lot by researching and reading information in NG's such as
this one. For those who are experiencing SP2 difficulties, I sympathize.
However, when you see/read a generalized blanket statement like the subject
of this post, I think the vast majority of you are wise enough to ignore the
"Chicken Little" mentality.
