I am administrator of this computer. It was not ready for
download of xpsp2 yet so this is what I did to stop
download for now and to get rid of icon: I went to
Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services In
Sevices screen, the 3rd item on list was automatic
update. I right clicked automatic update/properties and
in general tab half way down changed update from
automatic to manual. Then closed out all screens by
clicking X in corner. Since I have the CD from Microsoft
and when my computer is ready I will just install and
update this way. I have been told that my computer may
not handle update and may crash. After 6 hours of
downloading and only getting to 39% (using dial-up) I
felt this was the best way to go. I didn't need the whole
200mg download which is what it was downloading.
