This morning I tried the MS IIS Lockdown Tool on my XP Pro SP2 Workstation.
Wanted to test it before running on a production server. (I also ran the
Baseline Analyzer, but I assume that it just analyzies and does not make
changes). The only other things I have done to the machine is to edit the
Web site, copied some folders from another machine and added a certificate
for SSL.(I also tested the updates with IIS Admin and Web Publishing OFF).

Now my XP machine will not do the Windows update. I get an error when it
scans for updates telling me that the following services are not running:
    Updates
    BITS
    Event Log

Then instructions on how to start them.
Well Event Log is (always has been) set to automatic and is running. While
Updates & BITS have always been set to manual (I did some updates last
    Friday with this setup).
But Now, even when the mentioned services are set to auto and verified that
they are running. I still get the same error when I try the update scan and
either it was the IIS Lockdown Tool or the lastest update I got last week.
Anyone have a fix or way to troubleshoot this?
