Hi
Here are several things you can try (I guess step 2 is what
you already have tried):
1)
Click Start >> Run >>
Type the follow command in the Open box.
"net.exe stop wuauserv" (w/o quotes)
Press Ok
Repeat the same for the following commands:
regsvr32.exe wuapi.dll
regsvr32.exe wups.dll
regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
regsvr32.exe wucltui.dll
regsvr32.exe MSXML3.dll
net.exe start wuauserv
Restart the machine and try WU site again.
2)
If it still doesn't work, see if this one helps:
When searching for available updates on the Windows Update site,
you see the 0x800A01AD error while looking for updates
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5consumer/showarticle.aspx?articleid=13&ln=en
3)
If it still doesn't work, see if this one helps:
Go to
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#Cannot_install_Service_Pack_2
Look for fixdb.bat under "Error 0x800710D9 Unable to read from
or write to the database". Download and run it.
4)
If the above didn't work, you can remove (or rename) the
Softwaredistribution folder and see if it helps.
Follow step 2 here to do this:
