Would it be prudent to simply avoid SP2 until the bugs are fixed?? Although
its a 'critical update' ?
Excellent question,Deej. The manufacturer's support team of my computer:
Falcon North West, informs me that they have been installling and delivering
systems for about 10 days now WITH the SP2 update with hardly any reported
trouble However, that's brand new computers only. Still, they love Norton
Ghost for system restore but have Litlle praise for Systemworks as it
adversely affects too many Windows XP services. I have been using Norton
Systemworks Pro 2003 for 15 months on two computers with Windows XP Pro and
suggest this: uninstall everything and reinstall Norton Anti-Virus and Ghost
only (if you have it...) There are just too many complications caused by the
other features to put up with. The word on the street is: back up everything,
erase the drive and install Windows XP fresh. Add the updates first, then the
mother board drivers, next the video card drivers and then reinstall all your
other progams. Symantec has a lot to fix on Norton! It's been said that 80%
of Windows problems are cause by two things: video card drivers and anti
virus software. Good Luck.
