I've loaded the XML patch referenced in another thread. When that didn't
solve the problem, I manually registered thost DLLs, just to be sure. Still
no luck.
It seems that something is terribly out of sync with the v5 software, but I
can't determine what it is.
The wuaueng.dll seems to be the source of the problem (at least in my
experience) but I can't seem to do any things to resolve it. Manually
registering/reregistering the DLL has no efffect that I can see. Even
removing or renaming the DLL to force another download doesn't solve the
problem. I *think* it could fix it if I could just download a patch and
install the V5 software locally. So far no one has been able to point me to
the correct patch file though.
I suppose I could sacrifice my workstation to SP2, but I've heard about so
many problems I really don't want to do that. I'm trying to hold our for
SP2a
