I'm getting exactly the same - this week!! Updates were running fine until
recently when the new interface was posted. I'm running updates manually.

Running on a similar config to yourself - XP Pro on laptop behind Server
2003 inc ISA etc. Nothing in firewall(s) logs to say anything has been
blocked so guessing it's not that??!!

Like you, all I can find on technet is a reference to W2K and updating the
service pack, which isn't relevant seeing as I'm on XP. Did also find
reference to a similar error msg (although not identical) re updating the XML
parser. Done that just in caser, but still exactly the same.
