Hello Martha,

Error 0x800B0001 is Unknown trust provider.

Have you tried to click this link (or manually enter it into MS Internet Explorer browser )
< https://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com>

Try it. See if that helps.

If still no, then do a Selective Startup:

Start > Run
Type "msconfig" (without quotes)

On the Startup Tab,
De-Select all items - disable all
Click Apply, then OK

Reboot, and try Windows Update again.

If error persists, please post the Windows Update.log file.
