v5 update

Does anyone know what the v5stats.windowsupdate.microsoft.com is and why
svchost is trying to connect. My firewall is blocking the outgiong
connection. I have auto update turned off and was wondering what stats are
being collected. I don't remember this in v4 of the update software.
