How would i download updates NOT through Windows Update

I want to download the latest .NET distributables. However the restrictions
that are in place on the network here at my work establishment is disabling
the ability to update through Windows Update. Is there an alternative
location whereby i would have the ability to download this update to
install? It is needed to run an small application.
