Hi David ,
1. Is there a specific update that is "looping" and prompting to reinstall?
2. Is this a drivers update?
3. Do you have any language packs (MUI) installed on the systems that are
encountering this.
4. The updates are for Windows Media Player?
These are a few of the questions that will determine the exact issue that
you maybe encountering.
Rationelle
*******
1. If these are driver updates, the windows updater will scan only the
location it expects the files to be
located to be updated. If the original drivers were updated by the Vendor
to an unexpected location
then the updater will miss it and the updated files will continue to scan
the system default location and understand
continuously that that driver is out of date.
2. Also, if there are Language Packs installed on the target system, even
for Office, the location for the
DLL's to be installed will be located to the original location, not the MUI
location. Each time you visit the update site
the specific laguage will always be looking for its own MUI update.
3. Also with the Media Player, the option for a user to select an alternate
install location will also
prompt for a repetitive install. The updater will look to the default
location and the files will be outdated.
Please let me know
Thanks again.
