Nothing in the log looks stands out and there are no error codes .
hmmmmm ... These are the last 2 lines of the log ?

Do you have any popup|ad blocking software installed ?

Let's add the Windows Update site to the Trusted Zones :
Open Internet Options in the Control Panel, click on the Security
tab, click the Trusted sites icon, click the Sites button, in the
" Add this web site to this zone " line enter these clicking Add
after each one :
http://Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://V4.Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://v4.Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://Download.Windowsupdate.com
Close Internet Options by clicking OK, then OK.

So, you were able to scan on the McAfee | other virusscan sites with
no probs ?

Did you temporarily disable your AV when you installed the MSXML
parser ? Go here to see if you can access this XML laden page :
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/CurrentDL.aspx
That way we'll determine in the parser installed properly.
