If it called on you to insert the Windows CD, it apparently found a need to
repair/restore a needed file. I cannot answer the question about a Log, if
any. The question occurs to me, did it re-instate the missing Notepad? Can
you now use it?
Until some knowlegeable person answers, LEAVE the updates as they are. I
frankly doubt you need to do anything.
