You probably are "low" in disk space, but not critically.
I think there is a "switch" you can set to remind you whenever disk space
is less than 10% of the drive capacity or some such thing. You can turn it
off (I don't know where it is, though :( ), or you can get a larger drive.
You may also have delegated a large amount of the drive to the swap, which
will make the drive seem low in space. I used to get that error in Win98.
You might check how much space is unused, and also set your swap to a
smaller number.
You can safely delete all the files in the temp directory, and also most
files that end in tmp. Search for all *.tmp and delete them. Do not empty
the trash until you do a reboot and really are sure you didn't need them.
A few days is usually sufficient. Some tmp files will not delete because
they are currently being used. But delete all the deletable tmp files.
Most will be in C:\tmp or C:\windows\tmp or temp depending on the OS.
You should also do a dskchk or scandisk, and then a full defragmentation.

If, however, you have a very large drive and lots of real free space,
then ignore the above - it's a different problem.
