Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I have noticed that KB840374 will not install on a
computer running Windows XP Pro that has been joined to a
domain, unless you sign in as a domain administrator.
Local administrator access rights do not appear to allow
installion of this update.
Anyone else experience this and is there a work-around?
