Hello Doug,
When this happens usually it is due to some program doing disk I/O. This
changes how the drive is mapped, so Defrag has to restart each time that
happens. Try disconnecting from the Internet and disabling your antivirus
before running Defrag. Also, if you have any other software that is running
in the background that is writing to the disk, disable that as well. You
can turn it back on when Defrag is complete.
