The "In progress" status in the Windows Update history is expected. The
service pack requires the computer to be restarted in order to complete the
installation. After the restart Windows Update is longer active therefore
unable to verify installation. If the service pack fails to install it will
produce an installation error.

installed it thru the windows update site. Apparently going thru the site
downloads it much quicker than having auto update do it, because auto update
is still downloading it and is only about a third of the way done. History
shows sp1 as having been successfully installed, yet also has it listed a
second time as "in progress". Does anyone know how I can cancel the in
progress download? TIA.
