I have seen info on this error posted, but unfortunately my situation does
not seem to fit. I have a 'closed' system with no outside internet access.
The system consists of a W2K SP4 server and four WXP Pro workstations in a
domain config. All DNS is internal. SUS runs on the server (192.168.0.1).
SUS gets updates manually from a W2K server based laptop I connect up
periodically. Under Options on the SUS server (192.168.0.1) I just set it to
get updates from another SUS server (laptop).
All of the four workstations get the updates from the main server without
problem but the server cannot get updates from itself. I get the error,
"Querying software update catalog from
http://192.168.0.1/autoupdate/getmanifest.asp (Error 0x80070057: The
parameter is incorrect.) Now I do not have any Okidata printer and none of
the other applications I have seen posters indicate cause problems. I have
two other systems that are virtually identical to this one and the server
updates from itself without error.
Unfortunately, I cannot hook this SUS server to the internet to either see
if there are some baseline updates that are needed first or if the updates
work correctly from Microsoft's update site.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
Mike Lawson
