Yes, I got the fixes and installed them. Some of the EMFs started working
again, some did not. They were not created by Adobe Illustrator but with
Micrografx Draw (quite an old application, but hey, it works!) and AutoCAD
R13 or something, among others.
I would be very happy, if Microsoft released detailed information about
metafile validation, or even a tool for checking (and possibly even fixing)
these security threats in the metafiles. It would be much more beneficial to
show what's wrong than to release fixes that don't fix the problem.
Our clients are running our software which uses EMF files extensively and
now hundreds of images suddenly became unusable. The files are usually
produced by the customer (exported from various CAD programs). It's not very
easy to have all these images converted to WMF which seem to work better now
than the EMFs.
KB835732 had to be installed because of Sasser, so leaving the hotfix out
was no option for most of our clients.
I think this problem is far from solved yet. Hundreds of images that have
been used for years without problems, suddenly become a security threat...
Not nice.
