Thanks for posting the information. A couple suggestions:

1) Unregister and re-register msiexec

Select Start | Run, type Msiexec /unregister and click OK
Select Start | Run, type Msiexec /regserver and click OK

Try installing the update again.

2) Download and install the latest version of Windows Installer for your
operating system
