Open Task Manager and double-click anywhere on the top Window border.
Somehow, you managed to convert Task Manager to run in "Tiny Footprint Mode".

The tab is there, but just shows the background window with no process list box, not an empty list but no list box whatsoever! It still says the number of processes running at the bottom though. If I peform a system restore to a point immediately before the critical updates, everything is fine again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
