    Followed Maurice's suggestions....the WUTemp folder is
    already empty, so nothing to delete. Critical Update is
    already unchecked in msconfig at startup. Went to Regedit,
    and renamed the SelfupdateStatus subkey. Rebooted. Went to
    Windows Update window...and it tells me yet again I need to
    install 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows when
    it's already, according to the installation history, been
    installed successfully at least 6 times since July 2003.

    Plan B?????
