"Manifest Parse Error" is indicative of a bad CD. Use the
original Windows XP installation CD. If you are using it,

|I have tried many times to upgrade to XP on my Me machine.
| I have gotten as far as I can, fixing little problems
| along the way. I have ran into one now that I cannot find
| an answer to. I get the following message after several
| steps have been completed in the upgrade process:
|
| SXS:DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy
| file "C\$WIN_NT$~LS\1386\asms\60100
| \MSFT\Windows\common\controls.man" on line 5
|
| Data is invalid
|
| Please help if you can!
| Much appreciated.
