Automatic updates

I've been using the automatic update until Nov when it suddenly stopped.
(I have no problem connecting manually using the browser.)

Where is this procedure fired off? Is there a task running somewhere that I
cannot see. I had similar problems with Norton Liveupdate due to a setting
of pwd on my admin account (from using pwd blank), where I had to manually
enter the new pwd in the specific task.
