Windows update service/client not installed

Hey everybody, we are trying to use SUS, but some of our Win2k pc's with SP4 installed don't have the Automatic Update service, or BITS installed. I tried installing the windows update client, but it says you can only install on Win2k with SP2 or XP without SP1. I know it is supposed to come with Win2k SP3 and 4, but not on some. Any help on how to get installed would be appreciated.
