You may want to check out my post on 2/14 entitled
KB832894 Fails to Install. I had the exact same problem;
however, I could not find WININIT.INI on my computer. The
solution was to restore WININIT.EXE.

Here are the instructions given to me in the post:

Extract a copy of the Wininit.exe file.

a. Click Start, click Run and type MSCONFIG in the line
and click OK.

b. Click the Extract File button.

c. Type "C:\WINDOWS\wininit.exe" (without the quotation
marks) in the box
and click

the Start button.

d. In the Restore from box type C:\WINDOWS\Options\Install
or browse to the
Win9x

directory on your Windows Me CD-ROM.

NOTE: If the C:\WINDOWS\Options\Install folder doesn't
exists, please put
your

Windows Me install CD to your CDROM and click the Browse
button, and then
browse to

the folder X:\win9x, where X is the drive letter of your
CDROM.

e. Click OK and follow remaining prompts.

Test whether the problem persists.

I ended up having to restore from my CD.

Hope this helps.

Tim
