I realy dislike reading so dyslexic. I apologize. I sometimes sound like I just got off the bus from the set of the Beverly Hillbillies.

The issue first started for me with a post by an MVP. When I noticed I could not get into the micosoft beta site. A day later I tried getting into windows update and noticed the 800C0008 issue.

I really didn't know the issues were related until I noticed after fixing the windows update issue the other one was also fixed. I may not have tried windows update since January 7, 2004 not sure. But when I tried to access the microsoft beta site unsuccessfully on February 9, 2004 11:0AM and the MVP got back to me that he had no troubles at the beta site I KNEW something was wrong on my end.

I tried the Windows update site Febrauary 10, 2004 4:46PM and I first got the error 800C0008. I then got a Microsoft Security Newsletter volume #1 Issue 3 on Fenruary 11, 2004 3:07 AM telling me to update my invalid certificate that expired on January 4, 2004. I did that. And then I tried to fix the Windows update site problem using the method I dyslexically described in my last.

But however bad I described the solution it worked wonders. Fixed both issues. To tell you the truth I think the iuctl.cab had to be installed using the chktrust.exe from the Authenticode for Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 for it seems the expired certificate I mentioned (which should be updated anyway) was really only for Internet Information Services.
You cannot just expand the cab and run its inf. That didn't work. I tried that first and no go.
