George,
Thanks for posting the info. When did you start experiencing the problem?

What I did is nab the iuctl.cab out of the Windows 2000 Professional that was not having the issue. Then I downloaded Microsoft Authenticode for Microsoft Internet Explorer 4. This download included a file called chktrust.exe. I then put the cab above into the same folder as iutcl.cab and ran it loike so in command propmt: chktrust iutcl.cab I was given a certificate notice and asked if I wanted to install. I said yes of course. Anyway after the change to the expired certificate I mentioned previously and what I just described above I had ficed two issues. 1) I could now access and scan successfully at http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp ( just tried it again to make sure it still works...whew OK still) 2) A MVP posted a site in Windows 2000 this was the link: https://www.beta.microsoft.com/sign-in/signin.asp?refURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ebeta%2Emicrosoft%2Ecom%2Fcontent%2Fbphome%2Easp%3F I was unable to access this site at all. I kept getting a DNS error server not found. It was that error that got me on the road to fixing this issue. And the fact the MVP had no troubles with the site. The Windows Update site was just another symptom of the same problem The above fixed this issue also.
