Re: 'Easy Print'...not so much

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi There, sorry for the late reply.

The main issue is that when the clients connect to the server, the printers
are not redirecting. I've checked event logs and absolutely nothing appears
in there to suggest anything is going wrong, its like redirection is disabled.

I've tried both xp and vista clients which both have .net 3.5 and latest
mstsc installed. Using the same clients ive conencted to an existing 2003
server and the prints redirect fine.

On the server side of troubleshooting ive tried the following:

Installed .net 3.0 and xps features on the server.

On the local policies i've left all the relevant setting to 'not
configured', ive also tried manually setting the right settings.

I've checked that the domain doesn't have any policies that might be
conflicting with local policies.

The strange thing is that the clients direct the printers fine on my old
2003 server, but they just don't work for 2008. I would expect something to
be in the event logs but there is nothing.

Any idea's?

Hi,

Could you please provide details on the issue you are facing?
What is your client OS?

If printers are not redirected with Easy Print, are they redirected with
matching printer driver?
The default policy will always fall back to matching printer driver, if Easy
Print cannot be used for some reason.
