As long as you don't mind the profile being open, it won't. Keep in mind I have seen remote (not console) sessions with long disconnect times do VERY odd things to a Terminal Server. As in have to restart the server things. If you are logging into the console session though, I always disconnect rather than log off, and have had no ill effects over years of doing it at dozens of sites.

P.S. Some part of the initial lag will be due to resource connections anyways, those always seem to bog the first 8 seconds or so, and always will, regardless of log on or reconnect...
