What you want to do is called TS RemoteApp or seamless windows, which
provides remote applications without the rest of the desktop. This feature
is included out of the box in Windows Server 2008 Terminal Services. In case
you want to use Windows Server 2003, you will need to purchase an add-on
product such as Citrix XenApp.

We have two apps to run on our Terminal Server and right now we're using
remote desktop for this. What I would prefer to do, however, is just
create an RPD icon that automatically loads the app. Then when the user is
done and closes the app, it shuts down the RDP connection and logs the
user off (thereby not exposing the desktop). I tried using the RDP
properties for this but I get an error that the application's "Start in
this location" is invalid. I tried using UNC path for the app and the
start in folder but that didn't help.
I'm new to terminal services and it's not easy to find help on this
subject. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
