OK, here's an article describing this Event, with identical status
code:
You can not establish a Remote Desktop session to a computer
running one of the affected products.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=555382
And on eventid.net

&source=TermService&phase=1

"In my case, I am running Windows Server 2003 and ISA Server 2006.
I created a publishing rule for the RDP protocol and used standard
ports. After I changed the incoming port in that rule, the issue
was corrected."
And here is the troubleshooting help from Microsoft:

Everything seems to point in the direction of the port TS is
listening to.

I forgot to mention that I can make a connection to another
PC from the Server on the network with no problem. I cannot
make a connection from the server to itself. I get the same
protocol error.

After running MS update I cannot use remote desktop to
login the my windows
Server 2003 R2.
I have uninstalled the updates that were installed hoping
connectivity would
be restored but I still receive the following error.
"Because of a protocol error, ths session will be
disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer
again."
I have tried to make a connection from machines running XP
SP2, XP SP3 and Vista Ultimate. All result in the same
error.
I searced the forums to find a solution and have reemoved
and recreated the
connection in Terminal Services configuration. I have also
downloaded and updated RDP clients to 6.0.
I have been searching for a fix for 2 days now. I need it
done like yesterday as none of the remote sites can get
connected to the server.
