RE: Old printers being autocreated

Hey CW. I'm not sure what your setup is, but I found something that was
inline with what I was thinking with the info provided. It's from Vera who I
think is pretty well respected here. I hope this helps.

If this doesn't help, can you give more info on your setup. Profiles,
TSprofiles Path, and how are you deleting the local printer.

Recently we have replaced non-networked printers with networked
printers for some of our users and we are finding that the old LPT
type printers are being autocreated for these users, even though the
printer no longer exists.

We have a policy that is set to autocreated local (non-networked)
printers only (which could be part of the problem) and save settings
in user profile only - but as the local printer no longer exists I
don't see why it is being autocreated each time as I thought the users
profile would be update to reflect the fact that the local printer is
no longer there.

This policy is applied to users via ip address as they all have a
common host number (192.168.xx.2) but some of these users still have
their local printer which needs autocreating but most have local
networked printer which don't.

Sounds a bit of a confusing scenario and it is no major problem (with
a bit of user training), but I would like to remove these dead
printers for good.

One thing I have tried was to have the user log on

RDP into that citrix server
find the users SID by using sysinternals.com's PSGETSID
open regedit on the server
navigate to HKEY_USERS\(USERS_SID)\Printers\Citrix\Connections - and
delete references to the old printers
navigate to HKEY_USERS\(USERS_SID)\Printers\Citrix\DevModePerUser -
and delete references to the old printers
navigate to HKEY_USERS\(USERS_SID)\Printers\Citrix\DevModes2 - and
delete references to the old printers
navigate to HKEY_USERS\(USERS_SID)\Software\Citrix\Printer Properties
- and delete references to the old printers

Then have the user log off so that the updated cleaner Terminal
Services profille is copied back to the TS profile area.

But mysteriously when the user logs back on, those old ghost printers
return - anyone know what I'm missing?

Any help would be much appreciated.
