Vera,

Thanks. Exactly what I wanted (to show him...).

No, that's not necessary at all.
Assume that you have a print server and a shared printer.
Just put a line in your users' logon script:
net use \\printserver\shared_printer

Good evening.....

Two-pronged question:

Do networked printers need to be installed/shared on the actual
Citrix box in order for them to be available to Citrix sessions
(not talking about the local printer attached to the remote
user's computer....talking about networked printers within the
local LAN environment)?

Wouldn't it - generally speaking - make more sense to install
these networked printers (all have a static IP Address) shared
on a File Server....especially if the Citrix box is going away
in the immediate future?

Client has a Citrix Server (WIN2003 SP2) and a Terminal Server
(WIN2003 SP2). They have several Xerox printers (five 4510s and
two 8560s) in the environment that are all networked. They have
to be available in the Citrix session and in the TS session.
Brief explanation: Citrix has been in use for a couple of years
but we are replacing that with a Terminal Server (I did not have
any say in the matter as to waiting for WIN2008, which I would
have strongly suggested). The Citrix Server will shortly be
removed from the environment.

We just had a big mess with all the printers and my colleage
essentially removed them all from the environment and then
called our Boss and asked what to do. Long story short - all of
the printers are shared on the Citrix Box. My colleague
downloaded the latest driver from the Xerox web site and used
those for the installation (yes, on the Citrix box). The reason
for my colleague doing this was that our Boss said that the
printers need to be installed/shared on the Citrix box for them
to be available to the Citrix session. This does not jive with
me.

Thanks,

Cary
