Terminal Server with SBS - Setup & licenses

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi all! We have SBS 2003 R2 controlling a smaill domain and 10-15
users. We have some remote user who we would like to give access to an
SQL application that lives on the SBS box.

After various discussions on the SBS group we have pruchase an
additional box, plus WServer 2003 Std, plus 5 TS CALS.

I've setup WS2003 on the new box and have joined it to the SBS Domain
as a Server and for most of the setup I've followed the document
entitiled Deploying Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server to Host User
Desktops in a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Environment.

However, when I go to the stage entitled Configure Terminal Service
Licensing I remembered seeing something that said this was best done
on the SBServer. I sought advice and was told this was correct, so
that what I did.

I then activated the license server.

So far so good. I now want to add my 5 TS CALS and the install process
asks for the 25-char license number.

I've looked on eopen where our purchase of WS2003 Std and the 5 TS
Cals is shown and there seems to be only one license key that covers
this whole purchase (actually there are four, one for each of 32-bit,
32-bit R2, 64-bit and 64-bit R2).

Obviously I used this key when I installed the WS2003 software on the
TS box, but this key doesnt seem to work in Terminal Services
Licensing when it's activated on the SBServer.

Should I have another key? Have I installed this wrong? Or am I
missing something in the process?

(I'll confess now this is the first TS box I've done, having grown up
on SBS over the last couple of years!)

TIA,

JohnK
