Re: HP 3050 & TS (WIN 2003 R2)

Hi Vera

I have exactly the same problem. I have the HP 3050. Now I have run the
registry fix in KB 302361, I had to create the registry key- then rebooted.
The client is Windows XP SP2 with all the latest patches. The server is
Windows 2003 R2.

I do get the printer mapped when it is in LTP1: but I only have a usb
connection so I need this to map through on the dot4 port as the client
cannot print when configured to lpt port obviously as printer is in dot4.

So actually does the KB 302361 have to be setup on the client or the server.

Any suggestions

There are 2 main reasons why the printer isn't redirected:

1) redirection is not attempted at all
EventLog: no printer related events at all on the TS when the user
logs on.
Solution: check the configuration of printer redirection in the RDP
client and on the Terminal Server, update the RDP client to at
least the XP SP2 version or apply KB article 302361 to get support
for redirection of non-standard local port names, including tcp/ip
ports, DOT4-ports, etc.

2) redirection is attempted, but fails because the server doesn't
have a driver for the printer. In your case, that could be a name
mismatch (name is case sensitive).
EventLog: EventID 1111, 1105, and 1106.
Solution: KB239088 - Windows 2000 Terminal Services Server Logs
Events 1111, 1105, and 1106

Hi there,

i am having problems with printer redirection for a HP 3050 all
in one printer.

a user has this connected locally, working fine. when the user
RDPs to the TS, this printer will not come across to the
session. (another printer, an epson, does however come across).

after checking the list of TS compatible printers, i can verify
that the 3050 is compatible.

I have installed the latest driver both locally on the users pc
and on the TS, still no luck.

all help is appreciated.
