I'm sorry beacause I suppose that my question was asked a lot of time
but I need some explanations
- What do you preconize for remote printing in TS (or citrix) thru VPN
networks: session printer encapsulated in RDP or direct printing
beetween server and Lan printers (Jetdirect, etc..) in LPR or RAW ?
- Which method (RDP or lan printing) use the lower bandwith ?
Someone suggested me a solution that I want to validate: to put a
printer server running Windows 2003 server localy on remote sites.
I'm no sure that it could be a best solution: Have 2 Windows 2003 Server
printer spooler a particular protocol to comunicate with each other ? I
yes, Is there "bandwithless" ? The solution does'nt add a supplementary
step in printing (then more time) ?
Last question, beteen SMB printing and LPR (or RAW) printing, which use
less bandwitdh ?
Thanks in advance. Regards

remote location just for printing. I've done ipsec tunnels between
remote locations, then setup network printers (static IP addresses on
printers).
Then, you can add the printers to your terminal server with clearly
named printers (ny_ticket_printer, miami_invoice_printer, etc).
it works fine and doesn't use a lot of bandwidth.
the key is all locations need to have network printers.
good luck,
Oskar
