Re: Run login script on TS connection

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Yes, it means that the User Configuration is taken from any GPO
which is linked to the TS OU, not from the Users OU.

If you use the "merge" option with loopback processing, User
Configuration is taken from both GPOs, and in case of a conflist,
the TS GPO overrides the User GPO. But that makes troubleshooting
very complicated, that's why I recommend using the "replace"
option.

Vera,

Thank you kindly for the post. So, if I understand you
correctly, enabling the Loopback Processing on the TS OU GPO (in
replace mode) would ignore the Users OU GPO settings?

The default behaviour when a user logs on to a TS (or any
computer for that matter) is that the Computer Configuration
settings of the GPO linked to the TS OU are applied + the User
Configuration settings of the GPO linked to the Users OU.

You can change this behaviour by using "loopback processing".
In the GPO linked to the TS OU, configure this setting:

Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - System -
Group Policy
"User Group Policy loopback processing mode" - "Replace"

Hello,

I wanted to use a prf file to setup my Outlook clients.
However, I cannot seem to get the login script to execute,
which is calling this prf config settings.

I've created a OU for my TS servers, and assigned a new GPO
to that OU. I'm not entirely sure which components of the the
GPO is executed once a new TS session is created using MSTSC.
Is the Computer and the User Node executed? I've created a
logon script pointing to the Sysvol folder where my script
exists on both nodes, however I cannot seem to get my script
to execute when I login via MSTSC.

I know the script works because I can execute it from the RUN
command once logged in.

Please help me determine which of the two GPO nodes (if not
both) are executed on MSTSC login and what I might be doing
wrong (rights?).

Thanks in advance.

Scott
