Scanners aren't supported without a 3rd party product like remotescan in
terminal services so your going to need to consider that.
I'll have a look, cheers for the heads up.
As for the system configuration I would start looking at Group Policy and
become very familiar with it because that is going to be your main tool on
locking down not only their local workstation but also the terminal
services session.
Luckily that's something I am familiar with, although not for locking down a
workstation per se, I'll look forward to delving deeper into Group Policy ;)
Thanks again Jeff,

Hi,Have you considered thin clients? If you really only want them to use
We recently purchased another company in the same field as us and I
have been asked to centralise information management from a support
perspective whilst keeping the new company a separate entity and it's
data hived off from our other companies.
This is the first time I have embarked on a project like this and my
initial thoughts are as follows...
We have a brand new Terminal Server on-site and I plan to configure the
machines at the new company to connect to this on startup rather than
login locally, can this be achieved easily? Is it a simple case of
setting the computer to automatically login and run mstsc on login?
TS, then you'll want to completely lock down there workstations using
GPO then create an RDP file for them to kick off the desktop session.
Yes I have, but I don't know much about them AND why go out buy some more
kit when we can utilise the machines that are already there for free? (4
Desktops and one Mobile User). I have no qualms about wiping the desktop
machines and installing from scratch with a pared down system. It's just
the configuration knowledge and best practise I'm lacking.
Also planning on setting up a persistant VPN connection between bothThis will depend on many factors including drive redirection (how much
businesses, there will be 5 users at the satellite office so what sort
of connection should I be looking at to quarantee QOS?
are they goign to copy locally) and especially print jobs and their
size.
They won't be copying anything locally, all business data will reside in
our datacentre. About the only local devices they will use is a printer
on-site and maybe a scanner although their printer/photocopier can be
configured to scan to email.
