Re: default printer

OK, I understand.
What you see is the default behaviour.
I would use a login script to set the default printer on the TS to
the mapped network printer and use a Group Policy or TS
Configuration to disable the redirected printer as the default
printer:

Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows
Components - Terminal Services - Client/Server data redirection
"Do not set default client printer to be default printer in a
session"

Explanation:
Specifies whether the client default printer is automatically set
as the default printer in a Terminal Services session. By
default, Terminal Services automatically designates the client
default printer as the default printer in a Terminal Services
session. You can use this setting to override this behavior. If
the status is set to Enabled, the default printer is the printer
specified on the remote computer. If the status is set to
Disabled, the terminal server automatically maps the client default
printer and sets it as the default printer upon connection. If
the status is set to Not Configured, the default printer is not
specified at the Group Policy level. However, an administrator can
configure the default printer for client sessions by using the
Terminal Services Configuration tool.

Hi Vera,

the issues isn't mapping of local printers to the ts session,
but actual printers that are embedded in the ts session. what I
have done is mapped our network printers to the ts servers so
that when users log into ts they can see these printers. what
happens though is that when I set one of these printers as a
default for a user, the next time they log in, the default
printer is changed.

any ideas?

thanks,

jen
