Re: [Win2003.R2.TSE] Directsound 0x8878000a error on TSE clients

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi Aurélien -

It looks like the RDP Audio device is loaded, so that's good. Can you check to see if there were any events listed in the event viewer (eventvwr.exe) that might point to a problem? Anything related to audio or termsrv might be interesting.

Does audio work properly on the server's console session? The local audio device driver theoretically shouldn't have any effect on the RDP audio device, but just in case, it might be good to ensure your server's audio device driver is up to date.

Thanks,
Drew

I am not sure what dxdiag is but from the look of the error message you posted, it looks like for some reason the audio driver is set to some kind of exclusive access. Maybe somebody on this forum would know better or you can try on a audio/DirectSound newsgroup, because I am not sure this has anything to do with TS per se.

One thing to try may be to switch users (Fast User Switching - FUS) on the machine locally and see if the logged in (FUSed) user gets sound. This will clearly eliminate any kind of TS related issues and point out that the sound driver or device is a problem. You may also want to engage Dell Product Support on this since you are updrading from a lower model hardware.

I've got a sound problem on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 which is about to second a PE2900.

OS: Windows 2003 R2 TSE with SP2 (same problem before with SP2)
