I have written a couple of times on this topic, and feel the best way to help
is by telling you what I have and letting you see what you do and you don't
need by that. I would say the most important things are as follows.
1. Memory (RAM)
2. Memory (RAM)
3. Memory (RAM)
Everything else is inconsequential to the performance of the TS server
compared to Memory. I don't care if you 4 new quad cores and 2 Gig-bit
ethernet adapters, if you only have 512 MB of RAM you are going to go nowhere
fast. On the other hand, put in two of the dual core or four core if you can
afford it and just go with the onboard nic with tons of memory you should be
fine. One thing I would also look at is disk space. RAID is of course a
must, and hot-swapable is the best. Most users consume about 2GB of
harddrive space. Some need more others consume less, but this is a pretty
good estimate.
One other note. I see that you are saying you are growing very large very
quickly. I would recommend, although it is expensive, looking at the
Enterprise Edition of Windows Server 2003. It allows for more resouces on a
single machine and the allows you to put other machines in a cluster as you
grow for maximum scalablity.

Hardware: I support probably 10 concurrent users, and about 20 that can be
logged on at the same time and then in the summer we really increse in users
because I work at a summer camp and we have computer access for our
employees. I will tell you what i have and know that would be good enough to
run what you need as my users are completely on TS and run everything on the
server.
Dell PowerEdge 2800
2x2.8 GHz Intel Xeons
4GB of RAM
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition 64-bit
2x146GB Raid 1 SCSI 10,000 RPM drives
Of course this is a broad overview and if you want anymore specific details
let me know. Also I just want to let you know that if you don't plan on
growing any more stick with the Standard Edition as it is much cheaper,
although you don't get System Resource Manager which is a very cool tool. I
went with Enterprise because I see it growing in the future, and I work for a
non-profit so we get really cheap licencing.

Dear member - Our company has an low end Windows 2003 Server working as a.
Terminal Server. We are growing exponecilly and now we would like to
purchase the best system possible. I am looking to get a new Windows 2003 R2
Standard x64 Bit server with a two Processors Dual Core Xeon 3.0 GHz 4MB
chche and a dual embended broadcom NetZtreme GigaEthernet NIC.
The question I have is what is the most important resource in a TS server?
Where should I invest the money to have the best TS possible?
Memory
Processor
NIC
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assisstance!
