Re: Migrate TS Licensing to a new server

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

You need to call the MS Clearinghouse so they can free up your licenses then you need to activate them on teh new server. There is no way of simply transferring from one server to another.

I have a server on older hardware which needs to be decommissioned, but unfortunately it's also my TS licensing server. This needs to be migrated to a new box before I can finally shut it down. Is there any straightforward and supported way of doing this? I can't find any mention of it in any Technet or KB articles, yet I'd expect it's something that evrybody has to do at some point.

Both boxes, by the way, are Server 2003. The old is SP1, the new is R2.
