You can buy devices that will put a non-network printer on a network (JetDirect is one way). You then use TCP/IP to connect the clients to the printer directly. heh, I guess that's old school but it still works even today :)

Jeff,.
When you say "put it on the network", I don't fully understand what you mean. The local network at the remote site (all Desktop computers connect via a hub)? Are you suggesting the I set up the dot matrix printer as a print server? How does one do this without a network server in place?

On the workstation that has the printer physically attached to it, share the printer. On the other workstations, Add the printer as a network printer.
After you do the above all three users will have the printer automatically created for them when they logon to your TS.
I am assuming that the users are in the same office.

I have a remote location that has 3 users who connect to our
Terminal Server via a VPN connection. Currently, one of the 3 users
has a dot matrix printer (IBM Proprinter) physical attached to her
desktop computer. When she logs into the Terminal Server she can
print (redirected) to this printer OK.
What I would like to be able to do is have the other two users have
access to this printer when they are connected to the Terminal Server.
Currently, when the first user connects to the TS, I can log in myself
(administrative rights) and update the security settings for this
printer (listed in my Printer and Faxes list). But unfortunately,
when the user disconnects from the Terminal Server, the security
settings are lost. Not sure why.
Anyway, what can I do to either ensure that when I change the
security settings on the printer that they stay, even when the user
logs out of the Terminal Server or is there a better way to give the
other two users access to this printer when connected to the Terminal
Server.
WE are running SBS 2003 as our main server and on our terminal
server we are running windows 2003.
Thank you,
Thomas
