Re: tsmmc.msc and process failure on logoff

Does "sc query <service name>" show the service status as "running" ?
You can also use this command:

tasklist /svc

to see in which process id is the service still running after the original process terminated.

Thanks for getting back to me....

The service is running under the SYSTEM account. Also, it doesn't matter
who starts the service, as soon as anyone logs on to a console session on the
server and logs off the process in task manager shuts down... but the service
remains listed as started.

As this is a 3rd party service running under SYSTEM could it be down to the
installed service not some sort of security permission or right that causes
the process to shutdown when a log off is performed?

Also, this is a Windows 2003 Server which may help.

Hi,

What is the user account under which this service is started ? If it is
running under the user name of the console session, then when the console
session logs off, this service/process will also be terminated.

You can check the user account as follows: (when the process is running)
Open task manager
Go to "Process" tab
Check the "user name" for that specific process.

Also, check the user account for the service is the cases where it is still
active when the session is logged off.
