I have learned this problem from someone who was using my Remote Application
Center program (http://www.mqtechnologies.com/Products/RAC20/)
He didn't configure the program with TS Configuration but with Group Policy
Editor and the program starts with a Window in maximized mode and he can not
resize it, however the main window is a sizable one.
Good to know this problem, hein

Thomas, that did it! Here's what I found; there are 3 ways from the TS
server to designate a program to run upon connection:
1) Via Group Policy Editor: Computer Configuration/Admin
Templates/Windows Components/Terminal Services, policy "Start a program on
connection":
**Program launches INCORRECTLY with logon box at upper left.**
2) Via Group Policy Editor: User Configuration/Admin Templates/Windows
Components/Terminal Services, policy "Start a program on connection":
**Program launches INCORRECTLY with logon box at upper left.**
3) Via TS Configuration, Connections, RDP-TCP properties, Environment
tab:
**Program launches NORMALLY with logon box centered on screen.
Strange that it works differently depending on how you do it. I never
would have thought of trying that, thanks very much!

How do you configure your terminal server to run this application
automatically ? I think the problem is there, I have a client who had a
problem similar with yours .
To configure a program for running automatically when a user logins:
- Go to Control Panel à Administrative Tools à Terminal Services
Configuration, highlight Connections in the left side panel, and double
click on RDP-Tcp (on the right side panel):
Go to Environment tab then select the checkbox "Overwrite setting from
user profile and Client Connection Manager wizard" and fill in "Program
path and file name" and "Start in" textboxes
This way is global for all users, if you set per user in ADS, it does not
run correctly (sometimes with maximized window)

No -- if you connect to the desktop, then launch the program, the login
dialog box is centered normally.

What about if you "just run it" in a TS session, rather than using the
auto launch scripts? Does it still exhibit the cosmetic weirdness?

Hi all,
Windows 2003 Server TS question. I have program that is launched
automatically upon connection. The program has a smallish login
window that is supposed to be centered on the screen. However, it
isn't; it's displayed at the upper left inside the remote desktop
connection window. Once my user logs in to the program, it runs
normally, so it's not a functional issue, just a cosmetic one.
I realize that this is not the biggest issue in the world, but it *is*
embarrassing. How can I get TS to launch the program with its window
centered??
(Of course, the program login screen *is* always centered correctly if
you just run it not through a TS session.)
Thanks!
